Membership Requirements

OSHA offers three membership categories:

  • VOTING MEMBERSHIP: Applicants must have a master's degree or higher with major emphasis is speech-language pathology, audiology, or speech and hearing science, or a master's degree and participation in the field of human communication. Voting Members are entitled to all Association privileges.

  • LIFE MEMBERSHIP: Members who have attained the age of 65 years or who has retired from primary employment in the field of speech and hearing, and who has held Voting Membership in the Association for the ten consecutive years immediately preceding age 65 or retirement are eligible for Life Membership. Life Members retain all privileges of Voting Members without payment of dues or conference registration fees.

  • STUDENT MEMBERSHIP: Individuals currently enrolled in a college of university program in the general area of speech-language, hearing or a related area or full time doctoral students in speech-language pathology or audiology are eligible for Student Membership. Student Members cannot provide clinical services outside supervised academic/practicum requirements unless they hold the CCC. Student Members cannot vote or hold office

All applicants agree to abide by the OSHA Code of Ethics. Membership is granted without regard to age, race, gender, religious affiliation or disability. The Committee on Membership reviews each application and forwards the names of persons eligible for membership to the Executive Council.


APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Applicants requesting Voting Membership must submit the following:

  1. Completed membership application.
  2. Photocopy of one of the following: ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC); Oklahoma License from Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology; Official university transcript showing master's degree or higher.
  3. Membership fee of $60.00 (make check payable to OSHA).

Applicants requesting Student Membership must submit the following:

  1. Completed membership application with signature of faculty sponsor.
  2. Membership fee of $12.00 (make check payable to OSHA).
